Walk-a-joga-moveathon
Millie's school had their annual fundraiser and the kiddos had to walk for an hour and a half to raise money. They were pink-cheeked and pooped at the end...but so proud!!!
Ewan was great clapping for them on the sidelines, and Esmee joined the big kids for laps!
Dr. Doolittle
Millie's first big stage production. She was cast in the play "Dr. Doolittle" as a circus performer. She was a ribbon dancer. She had 2 stage parts and did amazing!
We couldn't be more proud. All of the actors hard work paid off!

Happy Birthday, Esmee!
Dear 5 year old Esmee...
Not too many moons ago, a sincere lady, a stranger, commented how 'there is no doubt she came from you,' as we passed her on the street. Unbeknownst to anyone around us, you included, time stood still for me. This woman, this person we had never met before, struck a beautiful, joyous chord in my heart...a little of me in you, a little of you in me. We are we. Beyond words. For an outsider to recognize our bond, dear Esmee, there are no words for me. I was happily speechless. xx
You love high pony tails, wearing my high heels, Peppa Pig, lip gloss, being fancy and singing solos in the car.
I often find myself staring at you and pinching myself that I get to be your mama. The way you smile, the way you laugh, the way you care...the way you live life...you are this special seed that was planted in my heart on May 6, 2010, by another amazing, generous mama. The gift I received when you were placed into my arms on your birthday I will forever be grateful for. Not a day goes by that I don't realize I am the luckiest mama in the world to have you, Millie and Ewan. Thank you for letting me be a part of your life.
You've grown so much this last year, my love. I have been most blown away by your sincere, heart felt apologies. Hours will go by and the behavior/argument has long settled in the dust and you will approach one of us, look us in the eyes and say your apologies, followed with the gentlest touch on the shoulder and your award winning smile. You make things better, Esmee...you make things better. I mention this first, because I think it takes HUGE courage to apologize and you do so without prompt. I think the first to apologize is the bravest. You Esmee, are the bravest.
You have been incredible with your baby bro. The way you love him makes me love YOU even more. There is nothing calm or serene about the way you show him affection. You are a force and there is no denying how much Ewan means to you. And I'll tell you something kiddo...he adores you, as we ALL do. You love to play drums on his tummy or head, shake your hair in his face and shout 'I love you handsome!' or 'Hey little cutie!' (all in this adoreable, don't-know-where-it-came-from southern accent) He giggles and kicks uncontrollably at your approach. He loves your love.
You excel in all that you do. Your gymnastics teacher would stop me after class most weeks to say what a talent you are and that your listening skills were above par for a 4 year old. At school, Teacher Linda loved how kind you were to your classmates and how you always came up with new, creative ideas for music and play. Your creativity is exploding. I LOVE to watch you create things...pictures, sculptures, legos, puzzles...you're always building. You love art and I beam every time I walk by your creations hanging in our hallway.
The bond that you and Millie share is something that I cherish more than most things. Your souls are one. You worship her and she worships YOU! You finish each others sentences and can't stand to say goodbye to each other when I drop you guys off for school. You realize the beautiful relationship the two of you have and neither one of you take it for granted. Nothing could make Dad and I more proud. It is a joy to see the two of you together. Heart melting. Thank you for all the love you put out, Esmee. You can and do turn a bad day good. And you do it with this amazing, loving power that fills your little bones and your little heart and your little soul. You leave this trail of sparkle and glitter and love and light wherever you walk, wherever you go. I want to follow in your footsteps...I want to be you when I grow up, Esmee.
I can't say it enough, and I won't say it enough. I love you my sweet, sweet daughter. My middle angel balancing out our family and our world.
Today, we celebrate YOU!!!
Happy Birthday.
xoxo
love,
mom
