A Walk Around our Block....

What should typically take under 10 minutes, Walter's morning walk around our block usually takes 30 (ps...he's not complaining.)  Our walk consists of some, but usually most of the following...skipping, acrobatics, sitting down to take a break, cheering, singing, dancing, hamming it up for the camera, running and screaming from bees, picking up snails, collecting rocks, leaves, sticks, flowers and occasionally something I can't quite identify (i know...yuck!), pretending to be monsters, pretending to be princesses, climbing a tree, splashing in puddles....oh yeah...and walking!  And they both INSIST on bringing a handful of toys....today it was a maracha, a stuffed giraffe, a stuffed bunny and an old birthday card they found in the recycle box :)

Good Kids xo Orcas Island

Orcas Island lies furthest to the north of the San Juans, a small and understated chain of islands off the coast of the Puget Sound and the southwest corner of Canada. We decided it would be a great place to spend our September anniversary, someplace close to home that was equal parts exhilarating and relaxing. Not to mention - this gang of our's had never before been there together. 

We booked our lodging a little bit late, and were surprised to find this spectacular log cabin available, with a view of the sound, awesome kitchen, great room, basement with a game room, and even a teepee (wherein lived "The Chief," a fictitious character that Millie would come to revere like Santa Claus). 

Over our 4-day weekend, we hiked, boated, beached, cooked, dined, explored and de-stressed in one of our favorite new places. Orcas, don't go changing. We love you just as you are. 

First day of preschool!

Both girls started preschool today!  Very exciting.  Esmee is in a tots class one day a week (mondays) and Millie is in the 3's class on M, W and F's.  I volunteer with Millie's class on Mondays and am there with Esmee during her class as well.  They attend a play-based co-op preschool that is essentially run by the parents.  Millie had so much fun seeing her teacher and friends again after having the summer off...and Esmee was ecstatic to finally get to go to school.  It's going to be a great year! 

 Out of all of the costumes in the dress up box, Millie chose the Chicken :)
