Summer Solstice!

One of the things we've missed the most about being away from Seattle for so long (aside from the friends, of course) is the Fremont Summer Solstice Parade. It is the craziest, most zany festival we've been to. Anything goes....including naked bike riders :)! When we first attended, 12+ years ago, there were probably a handful of bikers riding in the nude (including a dear friend of ours...hee hee...we won't mention names) and this year there were estimated to be over 100...ha!! Viva la Fremont! This is the neighborhood that Julie has lived in for most of her time in Seattle, and where we owned our first house....it claims to be "Center of the Universe!" Diversity and quirkiness are understatements!! Millie and Esmee got their first taste of it and we had a ball. The atmosphere was buzzing with laughter and positivity! For the record, there was no sun during the Summer Solstice Festival (which is typical) but the bright and sunny characters more than made up for it!

Our dear friends, The Arnold's, hosted the pre-festival brunch at their lovely Fremont home! Walker read pirate stories to the kiddos!
Butterfly Millie and "Daydon" (Jason!)
one of the many attractions during the parade...we opted to leave out the nudists :)
Juls watching the parade with Esmee
Daddy and Millie (and Justin and Anya in the background) taking in the sights!
