Nope....Esmee is not suited up to jump out of an airplane at 40, 000 feet. We learned at birth, that she 'might' possibly have a dislocated hip due to the way she was positioned in the womb. Apparently it is more common than you might think and can be 100% corrected. Our pediatrician here in Seattle confirmed the initial diagnosis once we returned, and Esmee was fitted for her brace last Tuesday. It's been a week....and after a few totally sleepless nights, she has finally adjusted to wearing it. Our Dr. assured us that the condition itself is painless and that the brace and positioning of her hips/legs in it are painless....albeit a bit uncomfortable initially. Assuming everything goes well, she will wear it 24/7 for the first 6 weeks and then only at night for another 6 weeks....a total of 12 weeks. Not too bad all in all. And at the end of the treatment, she should be ready (a few months down the road) to crawl, walk, play soccer and snowboard like a champ!!!!! Yay, Esmee!!
